TIMELINE
Greenhouse
GREENHOUSE embodies the classical look of a wooden barn and the typical structure of Dutch greenhouses: reused materials combined with DIY community-based building for a low impact and comfortable living environment.
Superused Home
After a long restoration, we are proud to present the end result of Superuse co-founder Césare Peeren’s home. A beautiful example of how our cities could evolve, re-using pre-existing housing and local material flows.
Reuse is common sense: FCRBE campaign
Reusing building materials is common sense. But is it feasible? How can we make it happen? This video gives an insight into the construction industry’s waste problem and encourages more reuse amongst construction professionals.
ReWind LGBTQI+ Monument
Watch the short documentary and discover how the synergy of different professionals and organisations created this amazing intervention of place-making.
Viisi Circular Office Design
A worn-out bowling alley floor, deadstock Trespa tabletops, vintage lamps, and ‘heraklith’ acoustic system ceiling panels were redesigned to give a sustainable yet classy looking ‘living room for academics’. The space is used both as a lunchtime canteen and evening seminar room.
RE-USE.EU NAPOLI Seminar & Workshops
In collaboration with Archintorno: lecture and workshops to regenerate vacant spaces in Naples through reuse.
Blade Made
At Superuse, waste rotor blades are seen as structural and aesthetic elements for large scale, worldwide use in design and architecture. Blade made designs reduce wind energy waste and provide an opportunity for later recovery of valuable composite materials.
Zero Waste Building
The short documentary ‘Zero-waste building’ quotes the title of the book published in 2016 by the protagonist Paola Altamura, Ph.D. architect at “Sapienza” the University of Rome, co-founder of the Atlante Inerti Project.
Harvest Map Milan Expansion
Video campaign as a project report of the expansion of the Harvest Map in the area of Milan, Italy. Result of a workshop given by Dutch pioneer architect Césare Peeren: according to the SuperUse philosophy WASTE SHOULD NOT EXIST.
Superuse on site: Villa Maggiore
An Italian villa is used as teaching ground by Dutch waste architects to spread circular design tools, methods and thinking to Italian designers, architects, contractors and industry.
Make City Festival in Berlin
Reusing dismissed chalkboards to exhibit about creative reuse.
People’s Pavilion | Dutch Design Week 2017
The People’s Pavilion is designed to promote the value of a closed-loop, or “circular”, construction system, which involves thinking beyond the life of the building, so that little or no waste is produced as a result.
Rabo Bank by Refunc
Watch here a short video composed of stop motions and time-lapse during the reconstructing of the Rabobank interior based in Maarssen, Utrecht, NL. The project is about reusing old office materials from the bank and designing the interior by giving them a new function and contemporary aesthetics.
Print Your City
The New Raw launch Print Your City. A short documentary which includes the interview with the founders of The New Raw.
Miniere Urbane Exhibition
Announcing the upcoming exhibition Miniere Urbane at Fiera di Milano | Fà la cosa giusta [‘Do the right thing’ Fair].
WHY

RE-USE.EU was created to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, experiences in material engineering, design, architecture, and city-making.
In the modern era, architecture and the building industry are creating thirty percent of waste worldwide. Waste in nature does not exist, and we believe that from nature, we can still learn how to analyze and improve our production cycles, saving resources and decreasing the impact we have on the planet.
“Pollution is nothing but the resources we are not harvesting. We allow them to disperse because we’ve been ignorant of their value.”
Powered by oil, we have dug out more than enough resources.
Now it is time to reuse and cascade the materials we have around us through endless loops of design and re-design.”
HOW

Capture
Photo & Video
We believe in the documentation of projects and case-studies as a catalyst to disseminate the practice of creative reuse. We like to execute it through photography, film, and interviews. We are currently displaying our content, but we invite professionals to submit curated content.

Study
Knowledge is Power
Documentation of projects and case-studies needs to be executed, curated, analyzed, edited, and discussed to gain new awareness regarding their potential. Waste streams occur worldwide in the same or similar patterns; therefore, we believe in sharing ideas and sustainable solutions.

Share
Editorial
Our expertise lies in both communication and project management. Project reports and press-releases are the main goals to reach a good overview of the work done and invìcrease the chance of publication across our network and our social media.
WHAT

Education
Waste to Treasure
To disseminate the practice of RE-USE we have created and tested some educational modules that cover different both regulations and practical solutions. In the form of a seminar, our theoretical module includes three main sections: opening and inspirational session, regulatory session, introduction to material harvest, and adaptive design.

Workshops
Knowledge is Power
The most effective way to implement our action is to combine lectures with practical workshops for material harvesting and prototyping. Harvest Map has been used in various European countries, allowing architects and designers to connect with local companies and institutions to provide the new material sources.

Design & Build
Design as Politics
Prototyping is the most effective way to evaluate the potential of new material streams.Together we can sustainably improve our cities. Material harvesting, prototyping, and construction mean to respond to our local needs with a new approach.
WHO
RE-USE.EU was founded in 2017 by Denis Guzzo, who is mainly publishing his own work and connecting professionals; contributing as writer and content manager.
Denis Guzzo
is a documentary artist and producer who graduated in communication design from the Royal Academy of Arts in Te Hague, the Netherlands, in 2010.
He intensively documented the work of Superuse for teen years now. His work has been exhibited and screened internationally.
His photographs were published in magazines and platforms such as A+U, BBC, Icon, Metropolis M, New York Times, Volume, in many books and on book covers.
